A Story of Hope and Self-Reliance
Lakshmi (name changed), a tribal woman from a remote village, struggled for years to meet her family’s basic needs. With irregular income and limited opportunities, she depended on daily wage labor that was uncertain and insufficient. Recognizing her determination to improve her family’s future, SPEECH supported her through a livelihood initiative by providing a pair of goats along with basic guidance on goat rearing and care.
Today, Lakshmi confidently manages her small goat unit, caring for the animals, breeding them, and selling goats at the local market. The income earned has helped her support her children’s education, meet household expenses, and build savings for emergencies. What began as a small act of support has grown into a sustainable livelihood, empowering Lakshmi with dignity, confidence, and economic independence. Her journey stands as a powerful example of how targeted support can transform lives and strengthen tribal families toward long-term sustainability.
